Stories from my Sketchbook . . .
I agree with almost all of Dan Glickman’s statement . . . everything except the bit about the popcorn.
How anyone, given the choice, could choose popcorn over a big bag (oh well okay then—a big box) of deliciously-chocolatey-honeycomby-creamy-crunchy-Maltesers is, frankly, a bit beyond me. But, there you go—there’s no accounting for taste . . .
Allthough popcorn is not my movie snack of choice (it’s not even anywhere on my list) I do admit to a having a certain kind of fascination with the popcorny-popping process. I have often stood and watched (while clutching my coffee and maltesers and waiting impatiently for the cinema doors to open) the shiny little machine at our local Plaza Theatre do its popcorn-birthing thing. It’s kind of mesmerising to watch . . .
I can only imagine how much more mesmerising it would be to me if it were churning out yummy-scrummy Maltesers instead of popcorn . . .

I am a popcorn addict, I admit. It’s Pavlovian. I long ago realized I couldn’t walk into a movie theatre and go directly to the auditorium without going to concessions and getting my popcorn, so now I allow time. I rank theatres on the quality of their popcorn and, if the movie I want to see is at more than one, I choose the one with the best popcorn.
When I was a little kid, I remember the chocolate covered malts. It’s a good flavor. Now that I know I’m a Celiac, it’s another thing I can’t have (well, a lot of candies are off limits). But there’s popcorn!
Excellent sketch, as always!

Oh well – I guess if you CAN’T have chocolate then by all means have popcorn! I had never thought about ranking the cinemas according to their popcorn quality. Perhaps you should offer your services to the popcorn makers of America. Could be a nice little job in their for you – eating popcorn, ranking it, watching movies . . .

What a charming suggestion!! (It’s actually not the chocolate that causes the problem, but the other ingredients — malt being a big one — or where they’re made…what a pain)

You would probably miss most of the movie Sal – if not all of it!
Very good sketch, where is Ron C?
